How To Prepare Steamed Or Baked Mango Yogurt

Bengali cuisine is incomplete without desserts. And Bengal is not only about Rosogollas when it comes to a sweet dish. Yogurt or “Doi” is also a very popular Bengali dessert. “Bhapa Doi” means Steamed or baked mango yogurt in Literary meaning and like almost all Bengali people, it’s a treasured dessert. Like every traditional recipe of India, It also came across transformation through generations. My mother learned this process of mango yogurt from my granny and me from my mother. It can be made easily in a pressure cooker as well as in an oven. You can get this dessert in the name of “Bengali Cheesecake”. So what are we waiting for? Let’s start.

Preparation time: – 15 Minutes

Cooking time : – 25-30 Minutes


Ingredients For Steamed Or Baked Mango Yogurt


1.300 ml sweet condensed milk (1 small can).
2. 1 medium Cup Plain yogurt.
3. The fresh pulp of 2 ripe mangoes. Even mango puree is also okay if you cannot find real mangoes at that time.
4.10-15 cashews finely chopped.

Many persons use additional whole Milk of 100-125 ml. I haven’t used this in my recipe. You can add that if you want.

Process To Make Steamed Or Baked Mango Yogurt


1.Firstly you need to put Mango pulp(or mango puree) and yogurt in a blender.  Blend it very well. In case you don’t have a blender, you can whisk the mixture thoroughly so that no lump can be left.
2.Next, add the condensed milk and again blend this properly. You can additional cardamom powder for flavor. I chose not to add.

3.Now it’s time to add the nuts. Almonds and cashews can be used. Add them to the mixture and just stir this softly with a spoon.


Pressure cooker method

1.Place the mixture in a bowl.
2. You must preheat the cooker for 3-5 minutes.
3. Then put an inch of water in Theorie vessel.
4. Place an iron stand.
5. Following that, put the bowl on top of the stand and cover the lid. You can use Aluminium foil for this.
6. After placing the bowl carefully in the steamer, Cover for 15-20 minutes.

7.Take it out and let it be here for another 5-6 minutes. You can put the bowl in the fridge to set it chilled.
Yogurt should be set in the cooker.

Oven method

1.Put the mixture in a bowl or small ramekins until they’re almost full.
2.Preheat the oven to 200c for 8-10 minutes.

3. Fill the baking tray with a little water.
4. Now put the bowl or ramekins on the tray carefully so that water cannot enter the bowl.
5. Bake this for 20-25 minutes in 180c. After that duration, check Let whether the mixture is set or not. Insert a knife into this. If It comes out clean, then it’s ready.

6. Always keep this yogurt at room temperature for at least 15- 20 minutes. And after that, place that in the fridge for another 60 minutes. You can increase this duration as long as you want.

7.The Steamed or Baked Mango Yogurt(Bhapa Doi) is ready. Put some pieces of almonds to garnish.

In a lazy rainy evening, what can be more exciting than having some chai and crispy snacks? From kids to senior people, everyone loves snacks, especially which are deep- fried, and carry non-veg stuffing inside it. Today I’m gonna share my personal favorite snack which my mom used to make(and even now) whenever I craved for this. It’s popcorn chicken. Though many people mistake this recipe with nuggets or ‘pakora’, there’s a slight difference that makes it not the same. While after frying, the chicken pieces are placed inside and the fresh coating covers the whole thing. It’s rather easy to make popcorn chicken, and I’m sure you would love having a plate of these balls with your near ones.

Ingredients To Make Popcorn Chicken

There’s not a big hush regarding the ingredients. It’s simple and easy to get.
1. 20 pieces of boneless chicken cubes.
2. 2½ teaspoons of black pepper powder.
3. 2½ teaspoons of hot red chili powder.
4. 2 Teaspoons of lemon juice.
5. Salt as per taste
6. ½(half) cup of all flour/maida.
7. ½ cup of cornflour.
8. 1 egg.
9. 3 Tablespoons of milk.

10.Oil( 1 cup or 5 or 6 tablespoons)
11. 1 Teaspoon of chaat masala.

Process Of Cooking

1. There’s a marination step prior to actual cooking step. You must marinate the tender chicken pieces with 2 teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper crushed or powder, 1 teaspoon of Kashmiri red chili powder and a pinch of lemon juice. Mix well and keep the marinated pieces in the fridge for an hour.



2. Meanwhile, you must season the flour as well as the cornflour with 2 teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper powder and a pinch of red chili powder. All the ingredients must be mixed thoroughly. Now keep it aside. In case you have onion powder or garlic powder, you can surely add them to the flour while seasoning.

3. Now break the egg and add milk, a pinch of salt and some black pepper powder.

4. Take out the chicken pieces from the fridge after 1 hour.

5. Next lightly roll them in the seasoned flour.


6. After that drop these chicken pieces into the egg mixture. Let it mix for few seconds.

7. Now it’s time to roll them again in the flour mixture so that the coating becomes crispy when frying. After that, you can keep these in the fridge for another half an hour.


8. Now take them out from the fridge and let them remain for 15 minutes in the room temperature. After that, the frying starts.

9. Take a cup or 5 or 6 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Let it heat.

10. You can fry 5 or 6 pieces at a time. Fry both sides properly until they get golden brown.


11. Take them out from oil and place on a paper tissue.

12. Sprinkle some chaat masala for tangy flavors.



The hot and crispy popcorn chicken is ready. So as you can see to make popcorn chicken isn’t difficult at all. Now cut some onion pieces into rings and serve them with tomato ketchup or chili sauce.

Preparation method of mutton haleem recipe

  1. First thing first, cleans all dal using a big size bowl and soak the dal for 2 hours before cooking it.
  2. Now take the 2 hours soaked dals on the pressure cooker and add turmeric powder, chili powder, and let it cook till 1 whistle on the pressure cooker. Now keep the flame low and let them cook for another 15min.
  3. Now our dal is finely cooked. Now it’s time to cook the mutton, rice separately.
  4. Once the cooking is done, now combine all three that is cooked mutton, rice, and dal in a big bowl.
  5. After that soak the wheat for 6 hours before cooking. Then drain out the water and take the broken wheat in the pressure cooker and add 2 cups of water. Now cook it on high flame till one whistle, then cook it on the low flame for 30 min more.
  6. Now add cooked wheat into the previous mixture of mutton, rice, and dal.
  7. Now add 2 to 3 cups water, onion [make it fried], green chili, biryani masala, cinnamon powder, salt according to taste and mix it very well. Now cook the mixture at very low flame for 20-25minutes,
  8. It’s ready, now serve with fresh coriander leaves and you can add a fresh salad to it. And the delicious haleem is ready to eat.

Chilli Paneer Recipe

Whenever we go to a restaurant we can find chilli paneer in the menu card. This can be one of the best starters to start with and you can also have it as a side dish. This delicious recipe can satisfy any paneer lover. Chilli paneer can also be a great side dish with plain rice, biryani, fried rice, jeera rice and even curd rice. It does take some time to prepare a delicious side dish but you can also make some changes to the recipe as per your taste. If you want to make it a starter then make the gravy thick in consistency; otherwise thin consistency would go well as a side dish. The same recipe can also be made with tofu which is a soy product made from soy milk. You just need to replace paneer with tofu and call it chilli tofu instead of chilli paneer. We have given all possible ingredients that make this recipe very tasty but you can minimize it as well. For example you can eliminate ajinomoto, soy sauce and yellow bell peppers. However it is, it tastes good even if you don’t use multiple vegetables.

  • Paneer – 1 lbs
  • Corn flour – 1 ½ tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste – ½ tbsp
  • Water – As per requirement
  • Egg – 1
  • Maida – 1 tbsp
  • Oil – As per requirement
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
  • Chopped garlic – 1 tsp
  • Green chillies – 4
  • Chopped onion – ½ cup
  • Coriander powder – ½ tsp
  • Chilli garlic sauce – 1 tsp
  • Ajinomoto – A pinch
  • Chopped red bell pepper -1 cup
  • Chopped yellow bell pepper – 1 cup
  • Soya sauce – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 7
  • Salt – As per taste
  • Lime juice – 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves – 1 bunch


  1. Cut paneer into small cubes and place them in a dish.
  2. Beat an egg and keep the egg white and egg yolk aside.
  3. Take a separate dish to prepare the paste required for the gravy. In that dish take some salt as per your taste, add some ginger garlic paste, water, corn flour, egg and mix the ingredients well. Add some maida in it and mix the ingredients well again.
  4. Now add this mixture to the dish containing paneer cubes. Mix them well so that all the paneer pieces are well coated with this mixture.
  5. Take a fresh pan and heat some cooking oil in it. Add all the paneer pieces to it and fry them over low flame till they turn light brown. Keep stirring in between.
  6. Take another pan and add some cooking oil to it; add cumin, ginger garlic paste, onion, chilli garlic sauce, red and yellow bell peppers, soya sauce, salt, garlic, chopped green chilli, coriander powder, some water, chilli powder, curry leaves, lime juice and then add paneer.
  7. Mix all the ingredients well. Wait for some time and keep checking in between if it is cooked or not.
  8. Finally add few coriander leaves and mix well.
  9. Turn off the flame and serve hot is a plate with some white rice or any rice item.
  10. If you want, garnish it with few coriander leaves.

Usually, by vegetarian dishes, potatoes, paneer or some common vegetables come into our mind. But our country has unique diversity not only in its culture but also for its cuisines. Different parts and states have their own delicacies. Gujarat is famous for its cultural traditions which reflect in its cuisines, most noteworthy of which is its veg recipes. Today I’m going to write about an unusual dish of Gujarat, the ‘Methi Papad recipe’ which is easy to make and full of nutritional value. To cook Methi Papad, fenugreek seeds are required which are cooked with Papad, mingled in a spicy curry.

Methi or fenugreek seeds have medicinal properties, an especially relevant thing is their iron values. It’s also a natural coolant for a human body. Generally, only a handful (few spoons) seeds are enough for making this dish. Though bitter, we all know bitter is healthy for the body. That’s why bitter gourd curry is something we relish. So let’s take a quick look at the ingredients and the method to cook Methi Papad.

How to cook Methi Papad


The total time to cook Methi Papad can take maximum 1 hour 10 mins. It includes the Soaking time: 30 mins and the cooking time another 30 mins.


1 cup Soaked fenugreek seeds

1.5 tsp Red chili powder
1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
1 tsp Coriander powder
3 tsp Sugar
½ tsp Asafoetida
As per taste Salt
4-5 Coriander leaves
2-3 tbsp. Mustard oil
3-4 Papad
2 tbsp. Lime juice

For Garnish:
Roasted papad
Mint leaves
Coriander leaves.


Heat the water In a pan and boil fenugreek seeds. You can soak the seeds for 30 mins and then drain it well.
Take another bowl, add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, sugar, and water. Now prepare a paste.
Now add salt and finely minced coriander leaves in the boiling fenugreek which has fresh water(1.5 cup).
In another pan, heat mustard oil.Add the masala paste, boiled fenugreek water, and cook.
Next, add lime juice and roasted papad.
Garnish the curry with papad, mint leaves, and coriander leaves.
Methi papad is ready to serve.

Enjoy with rice and pickles.



To eliminate bitterness, you can replace fenugreek seeds with half cup fenugreek leaves. Add them when you’re gonna place the paste with boiling water. Sauté for 2 or 3 mins and follow the same method as discussed.

  • First, make a well center mixture of egg and flour on a big size bowl and add water and salt onto it. Make it a stiff paste.
  • Now turn dough on a flour work surface and knead until it becomes very smooth and nice balls. Cover it and let it take rest for 5 minutes.
  • After that roll it and make thickness 1/8 inches and try to make it as little and long rolls. Or one can use a pasta machine to do this job which will let you make this same size and looks great.
  • Now allow it to dry for 1 hours.

  • Red chili powder 1 tablespoon
  • Red onion chopped 2
  • Tomato chopped 1
  • Salt and sugar according to taste
  • Garam Masala ½ tablespoon
  • Mustard ½ Cups
  • 1 Bay leaves
  • 4/5 Cloves
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • Few methi seeds for adding aroma

Follow the below steps to prepare Bengali chicken curry or kosha murgir mangso

  • First thing first, cleans the chicken properly and put the whole chicken in a large strainer for 30 min.
  • Now, take a large bowl for mixing and add Yoghurts, ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, turmeric, red chili powder, now add the chicken to the mixture and keep it like this for 2 hours. [this step will add all the ingredients to the chicken so mix it well]
  • After 2 hours of keeping it aside now, it’s time to bring it out. Now, heat the oil in a largely sized wok and start adding bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon stick, methi seeds, and fry it till the nice aroma comes out of it from the masalas.
  • Now, it’s time for adding salt and sugar according to your needs also add onions. Fry the onion till it becomes golden.
  • After that lower the flame, and add marinated chicken and large tomatoes chopped. Now cover the lead for 15-20 minutes. And check between the meat is cooked or not.
  • Once cooked now it’s time to fry it well in the flame and till the chicken and oil get separated.
  • When the gravy becomes thick now add some garam masala for taste. But, don’t add it too much, a just sprinkled little amount of garam masala.
  • Now, your Bengali curry chicken or masala chicken is ready to serve with roti or white rice or biriyani.
